Project Engineer – Civil – Cootamundra

Key responsibilities include:

Technical
1. Manage the investigation, planning survey and design of new and upgraded civil infrastructure.
2. Engage and manage external consultants to undertake conceptual and detailed design and cost estimates for major civil & building projects.
3. Plan, co-ordinate and supervise the construction and maintenance of roads, stormwater drainage, roundabouts, footpaths, cycleway, bridges, culverts and ancillary works.
4. Provide technical advice and administrative support to the Manager Engineering Services in managing Council’s civil infrastructure assets.
5. Ensure that all activities are undertaken in accordance with Council’s Work Health & Safety procedures and in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
6. Ensure all planning, design, construction and maintenance activities are completed on time, within the allocated budget and to Council’s and TfNSW standards and specifications as applicable.
7. Ensure compliance with NSW Local Government Act and Council’s Procurement Policy in relation to procurement and tendering of goods and services
8. Prepare tender documentation and specifications, call and evaluation tenders, make recommendations to Council following the evaluation of tenders.

– Salary range of $2,014.14 to $2,356.59 gross per week

In this full-time role, you’ll take the lead in planning, designing, and delivering vital water and sewer infrastructure projects that directly support the health, sustainability, and growth of our region. From concept through to construction and maintenance, you’ll ensure projects meet the highest environmental, health, and legislative standards — all while working in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

Key responsibilities include:

Technical
1. Manage the investigation, planning survey and design of new and upgraded water and sewerage infrastructure and other civil projects as required.
2. Engage and manage external consultants to undertake conceptual and detailed design and cost estimates for major water & sewerage projects.
3. Plan, co-ordinate and supervise the construction and maintenance of reticulated water mains, trunk water mains, sewer gravity main, sewer rising mains, reticulated effluent mains, pump stations, water reservoirs, treatment plants and ancillary works.
4. Provide technical advice and support to the Manager Engineering Services in managing Council’s water and sewerage infrastructure assets.
5. Ensure all works comply with EPA Environmental Protection Licence (EPL) conditions, environmental standards, Environment Planning & Assessment Act, Protection of Environment & Operations Act and associated legislation.
6. Ensure all planning, design, construction and maintenance activities are completed on time and within the allocated budget.
7. Regularly review and report on estimated project and activity costs expenditure and commitments against budget.
8. Prepare tender documentation and specifications, call and evaluation tenders, make recommendations to Council following the evaluation of tenders.

Project Engineer – Water & Sewer PD

PLANT OPERATOR – GUNDAGAI (F/T)

Applications are invited from interested individuals for a permanent full time Plant Operator role based at our Gundagai Depot. Duties may also be required to be undertaken at our Cootamundra Depot on an as needs basis.
This position will require the employee to operate various items of plant, undertaking Council works as directed by the Works Coordinator and contribute to the manual labour pool within the Civil Works Department.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Ensures plant is operated effectively and efficiently to achieve Council’s goals and objectives, including patching truck when required.
2. Ensures plant is maintained on a daily basis following manufacturer’s specifications, including patching truck when required.
3. Ensures plant is operated and loaded in a safe manner following safe work method statements and manufacturer’s instructions, including patching truck when required.
4. Ensures plant is correctly and securely loaded to weight and safety limits and driven according to road regulations.
5. Complete all electronic/paper forms/books as required or directed.

Benefits
– Salary range of $1,102.88 – $1,290.49 gross per week
– 12% super guarantee levy payable by Council

Bio Security Officer – COOTAMUNDRA (Full time)

Applications are invited from interested persons for the above full-time position of Bio Security Officer to be based at our Cootamundra Office.

This position is to develop and implement priority weed control programmes including co-ordinated inspection and control, liaison with landowners and affiliations with regional weeds groups and reporting weed data to NSW DPI.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Ensures Council’s compliance with the Bio-security Act 2015, by conducting regular inspection control of all Council lands, and assisting in the development implementation of management strategies.
2. Ensure public compliance with the Bio-security Act 2015, by conducting regular inspections of all public land and assisting in the inspection of private rural properties.
3. Ensure private landholders within the Shire are made aware of their obligations to control or remove priority weeds through assisting with ongoing consultation and education.
4. Ensure timely and effective delivery of weed control programs.
5. Ensure use of appropriate application safety and health requirements during the application of weed control chemicals.
6. Interpret the regulatory framework and issue biosecurity undertakings or directions if required throughout the Local Government Area.
7. Identify new and emerging invasive weeds within LGA.
Benefits:
– Salary range of $1,265.31 to $1,480.75 gross per week.

Plant Mechanic – GUNDAGAI – Permanent Full Time

The position is to assist the Workshop Supervisor to undertake maintenance, repairs, modifications, and fabrication of Council plant, as required, to ensure its preservation and optimum functionality.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Ensure that Manufacturer’s specifications are followed and adhered to when carrying out mechanical maintenance and repairs.
2. Ensure that items of plant are in sound working order and safe for operation before they are returned to the working fleet.
3. Assist with the workplace training of apprentices, ensuring their training contract requirements are met.

Benefits:

– Salary Range is $1,194.37 – $1,397.18 gross per week
– 12% super guarantee levy payable by Council
– 9-day fortnight working arrangement.
