WATER & SEWER COORDINATOR Full Time – Cootamundra

This position is to lead the internal water and sewer functions of Council ensuring that construction, operation, maintenance to water supply and sewerage infrastructure is performed effectively and efficiently. To deliver quality water supply and sewerage systems, in accordance with environmental and health standards, and State legislation.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Provide leadership and direction to the Water and Sewerage team to ensure the:

            1.1   safe operation, monitoring, quality, maintenance, monitoring improvement and / or        development and construction of infrastructure, systems and processes,

            1.2  timely delivery of Water and Sewerage services to the Cootamundra delivery area within regulatory requirements.

  1. Lead in the planning, development and implementation of capital works projects, including specifications and in contractor management for all improvement and replacement initiatives.
  2. Plan for and undertake end-to-end tender processes in accordance with Council policy and procedures for the engagement and co-ordination of Contractors required for project and operational works.
  3. Oversee and maintain an effective performance and quality monitoring programs for all plant, systems and assets in order to ensure quality compliance, safe and optimal utilisation.
  4. Ensure appropriate risk management practices for all projects within the Cootamundra delivery area, and constructively communicate project standards and safety requirements to the work team.
  5. Ensuring works carried out are compliant with specifications and plans including undertaking Dial Before You Digs (DBYDs) for all excavations.
  6. Complete annual returns, works and other reports as required regarding work completed, project expenditure and status, budgets, QA, WHS, contractor and environmental compliance.
  7. Assist with the development of Works Proposal submissions for upcoming/proposed works on all assets when required including liaison with engineering staff to determine project scope and work scheduling.
  8. Ensure that water, sewer and stormwater infrastructure construction, maintenance, materials, components and methods meet Council and all other relevant legislative requirements.
  9. Provide administrative, data extraction and informational assistance to facilitate water, sewer and stormwater projects, maintenance and compliance requirements, including compliance with EPA requirements.
  10. Manage the timely and professional response to customer questions and complaints via Council’s Customer Actions system, and act as an escalation point as and when required.
  11. Ensure water and sewer employees adhere to operational and safety standards including compliance with relevant confined spaces legislation.
  12. Ensure that the efficient operation of the Sewage Treatment Plant, pump stations and effluent re-use systems and effective operation of sewer reticulation for the Cootamundra delivery area.
  13. Oversee the metering of raw water, treated water and reticulated water quality is maintained and complies with Australian drinking water quality guidelines.
  14. Provide input into the development of strategic plans for water, sewer and stormwater.
  15. Contribute to maintenance of Council’s Asset Database and undertake asset inspections of water, sewer& storm water assets.
  16. Co-ordinate work team to be available to respond to customer service requests.
  17. Review timesheets and applications for leave, and action them appropriately.
  18. Work with and support members of the team in order to ensure the on time delivery of functional work and delivery of service to the community.
  19. Assist team members to resolve problems and promote a cohesive team environment.
  20. Carry out any other duties that are within the limits of the employees’ skill, competence and training.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $1,697.42 to $1,985.76 gross per week.
  • 9 day fortnight
  • 11.5% superannuation

WATER & SEWER Attendant – COOTAMUNDRA (Full time) 

Applications are invited from interested persons for the above full-time position of Water & Sewer Attendant, based at our Bradman Street Depot, Cootamundra.

This role assists in day-to-day water & sewer operations, repairs and maintenance of Council’s water & sewage treatment plants, pump stations, reticulation systems, and reuse facilities.

Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  1. Ensures the efficient operation of the Water and Sewage Treatment Plants, pump stations, reticulation systems and reuse systems, through ongoing monitoring, maintenance & repairs, and construction.
  2. Ensures water sampling, testing and recording is undertaken to meet required standards of treated and recycled effluent.
  3. Ensures the grounds of the Water & Sewage Treatment Plants facility and related work areas are maintained and presented to required Council standard.
  4. Ensure that all activity undertaken at Plant worksites is conducted safely.
  5. Attend to sewer and water supply emergency calls and ensure customer requests are attended to promptly and efficiently.
  6. Be available to respond to on-call activities on a rotating on-call roster.
  7. Deliver quality customer service to both internal/external customers.

PLANT OPERATOR – ROLLER – PERMANENT FULL TIME – COOTAMUNDRA

Applications are invited for the Permanent Full-time position of Plant Operator – Roller to be based Cootamundra.

The function of this role is to operate road compaction rollers to undertake Council works as directed by the Works Supervisor and contribute to the manual labour pool within the Operations Department.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensures plant is operated effectively and efficiently to achieve Council’s goals and objectives.
  2. Ensures plant is maintained on a daily basis following manufacturer’s specifications and kept in a clean and tidy state.
  3. Ensures plant is operated in a safe manner following safe work method statements and manufacturer’s instructions.
  4. Ensures plant is operated safely when working in the proximity of overhead or underground utility services.

  • Salary range of $1,042.00 to $1,219.10 gross per week

Plant Operator – Roller PD

CEMETERIES ATTENDANT/RANGER – GUNDAGAI – Permanent Full Time (Re-advertised)

 Applications are invited from interested persons for the above permanent full-time position of Cemeteries Attendant/Ranger– Full Time, based at our Gundagai Depot.

This position assists in the excavation and preparation of gravesites for burial at Council Cemeteries. Provides ground keeping, repairs and maintenance and cleaning services at the Council cemeteries and other designated public areas. Supports and relieves the Ranger to attend to compliance matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensures a high level of presentation of surroundings for mourners and visitors at Council cemeteries.
  2. Ensures graveside areas are prepared in co-operation with funeral directors in a timely and sensitive manner.
  3. Routinely clean Council’s public amenities to a high standard to provide hygienic facilities for the general public.
  4. Ensures grounds’ keeping at Council cemeteries complies with the Voluntary Conservation Agreements covering those locations.
  5. Ensure compliance with Council’s Work Health & Safety and Risk policies and procedures for the provision of worker and public safety.
  6. Assist and relieve Council’s Rangers to attend to compliance matters under the Companion Animals Act, POEI Act, Local Government Act, Impounding Act and Roads act and assist with dog control duties, pound maintenance and the welfare of impounded animals.
  7. Working within Council’s Park and Gardens team, including labouring, mowing, spraying and other duties as required.

Applications are invited from interested employees for the full-time vacancy of Building Services Attendant, based at our Cootamundra Administrative Building.
This position is to provide cleaning and maintenance services to Council’s administrative and civic buildings.
Co-ordinate the set up/clean-up of the Town Hall for private and public functions.
The successful applicant will have experience in cleaning, be reliable and have the ability to work independently. As a self starter you will have the initiative and drive to deliver quality services, be adaptive and organised. You will bring the ability to manage your own time and work priorities whilst ensuring work safety.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Undertake cleaning of Council Offices, Library, Town Hall, Civic Hall.
2. Ensure the Town Hall facility is maintained, prepared, and presented for users in a tidy state.
3. Ensure Town Hall users are instructed and supported to safely operate and use facilities to optimum capability and capacity.
4. Ensure Town Hall safety and security equipment is routinely inspected and operated.
