Applications are invited for the full time vacancy of LABOURER – CIVIL WORKS to be based at our Cootamundra Depot.

This role performs manual tasks as directed by the Works Supervisor and /or Works Foreman to meet Council’s Operational Plan requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Ensuring work tasks are completed efficiently and effectively, as directed by supervisors.
  2. All works and tasks are conducted responsibly ensuring the safety for general public, fellow employees and self.
  3. Act as traffic controller (subject to qualification) when required.
  4. Manual laboring tasks and maintenance of council assets.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $885.70 to $1,032.50 gross per week
  • 9.5% superannuation.

Applications are invited for the 12 month contract position of Tourism & Economic Development Officer to be located in Cootamundra.

Market the local government area, develop quality tourism products and services and guide the activities of local tourism organisations to increase visitation to the region, enhance the visitor experience and contribute to the local economy. Develop, implement and promote a strategic economic development program for the Council area.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Implementation of the CGRC Tourism and Economic Development Strategy and Branding and Marketing Plan.
  2. Maintain Council’s tourism information, including online and printed, to ensure quality and consistency.
  3. Support existing businesses to grow, develop and work together, and actively encourage diversification and attraction of new business.

Applications are invited for the full time vacancy of Technical Assistant – Building, Development & Compliance  to be shared between both the offices in Cootamundra & Gundagai.

This position works effectively in a flexible team environment to build skills and knowledge of systems, policies, procedures and legislation of all aspects of the Development, Building and Compliance team enabling a multi skilled approach to support the requirements of the team.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Act as first point of contact for the Development, Building and Compliance team
  2. Provide specialist advice to the public in the functions of the Development, Building and Compliance team
  3. Prepare correspondence in response to enquiries in consultation with manager and team members
  4. Effectively and efficiently communicate between Development, Building and Compliance team and other divisions of Council
  5. Promote and project a positive image of the Development, Building and Compliance team and Council by identifying areas for proactive engagement with the community and other divisions of Council.
  6. Support technical team members in achieving the objectives and outcomes of the department

Work Health Safety & Risk Officer – GUNDAGAI

Applications are invited for the full time vacancy of Work Health Safety & Risk Officer to be located in Gundagai.

This is a professional role, that includes administering Council’s Workplace Health, Safety and Risk Management policies and procedures, insurances, audits and registers.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensure Council’s policies and procedures in relation to Work Health and Safety and the management of public liability and risk comply with legislative requirements, reflect industry best practice and are consistent with AS/NZS ISO 13000:2209 Risk Management – Principles and Guidelines.
  2. Manage and administer Council’s suite of insurance policies.
  3. Develop and maintain Council’s asset data bases and registers for risk management, insurance, WHS and asset management purposes.
  4. Ensure periodic risk management, asset and WHS audits are routinely undertaken.
  5. Ensure employees and external contractors are inducted and trained in WHS policy and procedures and are informed of their responsibilities under the relevant legislation.
  6. Ensure public liability and WHS risks and hazards are controlled and minimized through continual monitoring and review of Council’s Risk Management and WHS policies and procedures.
  7. Perform the role of WHS Committee Secretary and promote a culture of continuous improvement in WHS awareness and practice at all levels within Council.

WHS Risk Officer – Gundagai PD

DESIGN ENGINEER – GUNDAGAI (Full time)

Applications are invited from interested persons for the above full time position of Design Engineer to be based at our Gundagai Office.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Investigate and design civil infrastructure projects in line with Council’s forwards works and delivery Program e.g. roads, parking, water, drainage and sewer systems.
  2. Provide quality construction and design drawings liaising with others involved to meet client and Council needs, ensuring compliance with relevant standards.
  3. Complete onsite surveys and inspections as required.

  • Salary range of $1,485.98 to $1,738.59 gross per week, plus Civil Liability Allowance. A Market Allowance may be negotiated for the right applicant.

SURVEY & DESIGN OFFICER – GUNDAGAI (Full time)

Applications are invited from interested persons for the above full time position of Survey & Design Officer based at our Gundagai Office.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Carry out detailed Engineering Surveys including construction set out using dumpy / automatic levels, theodolites, electronic distance measurement equipment, total station and other similar survey equipment.
  2. Complete Engineering Design Operations as required on rural roads, urban streets and other civil infrastructure.
  3. Develop and produce maps/plans as required.
  4. Ensure compliance with Councils Policies, Procedures, Systems and processes as well as legislative requirements relevant to the position. Including but not limited to Workplace Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunities and Code of Conduct.
  5. Any other duties as directed and considered relevant to the role and area of responsibility.

 Applications are invited for the casual vacancy of Visitor Information Officer to be located in Gundagai.

Daily operation of the Accredited Visitor Information Centre (AVIC) in accordance with Tourism New South Wales’ guidelines to ensure:-

  • effective and efficient promotion of the Cootamundra-Gundagai Council area as a destination/s,
  • information and tourism needs of visitors and the community, are satisfied with respect to local businesses and attractions in Gundagai and the region.

Key responsibilities include:

  1.  Provide information, advice and promotion on local attractions, products and services within the region in a pleasant, courteous and efficient manner at all times.
  2. Sales of souvenirs, produce, wines, bus/train tickets and entry to local attractions and events.
  3. Handling of stock orders, invoicing and payment in accordance with procedures.

  • Salary range of $1142.63 gross per week or $32.64 gross per hour (inclusive of 25% casual rate)
