APPRENTICE HORTICULTURALIST – COOTAMUNDRA
Applications are invited from interested persons for the above full-time position of Apprentice Horticulturalist to be based at our Cootamundra Depot.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide support for works undertaken by the Parks and Gardens team and the Facilities and Services Section.
- Attend off-the-job structured training as required by the Training Agreement for the Traineeship, and other short courses as identified.
- Participate in a team environment by performing tasks within the Waste, Parks & Gardens and Recreation Services Section.
- Deliver quality customer service to both external and internal customers.
- Abide by legislation and policy regarding Work Health & Safety, Environmental, Equal Employment Opportunity, Privacy and the Local Government Act and regulations and authorising bodies.
Benefits
- Salary will be dependent upon the successful applicants age or educational qualification, whichever is higher.
- 12% superannuation.
- 9 day fortnight working arrangement.

APPRENTICE HEAVY VEHICLE MECHANIC – COOTAMUNDRA
Council is looking for a keen and enthusiastic person, with a genuine interest in mechanics, to undertake a 4 year apprenticeship as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic at our Cootamundra workshop.
The successful applicant will be working closely with qualified tradespersons to develop skills in all aspects of the mechanical trade. While assisting in servicing and general repairs, as well as working on various types of plant equipment and machinery.
Key responsibilities and duties include:
- Provide support for works undertaken by the plant workshop team and the Engineering Department.
- Attend off-the-job structured training as required by the Training Agreement for the Apprenticeship, and other short courses as identified.
- Participate in a team environment by performing tasks within the Civil Works Department.
- Deliver quality customer service to both external and internal customers.
- Abide by legislation and policy in regards to Work Health & Safety, Environmental, Equal Employment Opportunity, Privacy and the Local Government Act and regulations and authorising bodies.
Benefits:
- A commencement wage based on the Award Training Salary and dependent on age.
- 12% superannuation.
- 9 day fortnight working arrangement.

Expression of Interest Independent Chair & Members Demerger Transition Disputes Resolution Panel
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) was created in May 2016 through the merger of Cootamundra and Gundagai Shire Councils.
The Minister for Local Government has approved the demerger of CGRC subject to Council undertaking all planning for, and bearing all costs of, the demerger. It is currently planned for the new Councils to begin on 1 July 2027.
The communities and all Councillors strongly support the demerger. Nevertheless, it is possible that a dispute may arise as Council develops its plans. Council has therefore resolved to establish a Demerger Transition Dispute Resolution Panel (DTDRP). Council has also resolved to accept the findings of the DTDRP.
Expressions of Interest are invited from suitably experienced individuals for the appointment to the position of Chair and members of the DTDRP.
Council seeks the services of suitably qualified persons to take on these unique roles to provide independent resolution of any matter referred to the panel.
Suitably qualified individuals are invited to submit an Expression of Interest by providing a letter outlining their qualifications and relevant experience together with a current résumé.

RANGER/REGULATORY OFFICER – COOTAMUNDRA
Applications are invited from interested persons for the above full-time position of Ranger/Regulatory Officer to be based in Cootamundra.
This position is to control and regulate activities relating to companion animals/unrestrained animals, physical and natural environment, parking, littering and waste, to ensure compliance with, or enforcement of, relevant Acts, Regulations and Council policies. To act to provide advice, information, direction, guidance, and case management of complaints to maintain quality community relations.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Detection, investigation and enforcement with respect to parking and other areas, including litter control; illegal dumping, stray and companion animals, derelict or abandoned vehicles/articles, overgrown premises, water restriction monitoring and illegal use of Council property/assets.
2. Provision of assistance through detection investigation and enforcement under relevant legislation including but not limited to Local Government Act and Regulations, Companion Animals Act and Protection of Environmental Operations Act and Regulations, Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Regulations.
3. Operational Management of the pound facility including cleaning and securing of pens and monitoring pound supplies.
Benefits:
– Salary range of $1,160.81 – $1,358.11 gross per week plus allowances
– 12% super guarantee levy payable by Council.
– 9-day fortnight working arrangement
