POSITIONS VACANT:

GIS & ASSETS OFFICER – COOTAMUNDRA

Applications are invited from interested persons for the full-time position of GIS & Asset Officer based in Cootamundra. This position develops and maintains geographic information systems (GIS) and asset management systems to record all Council assets including details such as location, cost, and condition, and ensure such systems are maintained and accessible.

The role also involves planning and carrying out timely asset inspections and surveys for roads, footpaths, culverts, bridges, stormwater drainage, water and sewerage facilities and other capital or maintenance works projects, including public recreational facilities, to ensure the location and condition of the asset is adequately determined and monitored.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Develop, maintain and upgrade geographic information systems (GIS) using QGIS or an equivalent software, using visual imagery (drone survey or lidar), survey, GPS data and asset registers to identify existing assets.
  2. Capture and maintain currency of Council’s Geographic Information System (GIS) information and assets database in accordance with Council’s plans, policies and strategies.
  3. Administer all aspects of council’s Reflect and Recover, Property and other relevant software, and ensure full operation and utilisation of functionality including updates and license agreements.
  4. Develop, implement and record details of an annual program for the inspection of Council’s assets.
  5. Identify the condition of each asset in the asset register assist in the development of asset maintenance programs based on condition inspections of Councils assets and monitor infrastructure and buildings performanc
  6. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure asset management service deliverables and operational needs are met, including accurate and timely capture and evaluation of condition, performance, valuation, and other key asset data.

Benefits:

  • Salary range of $1,527.09 to $1,786.33 gross per week.
  • 9-day fortnight
  • 12% superannuation

CASUAL CEMETERIES ATTENDANT/RANGER – GUNDAGAI

Applications are invited from interested persons for the above position of Casual Cemeteries Attendant/Ranger, based at our Gundagai Depot.

This position assists in the excavation and preparation of gravesites for burial at Council Cemeteries. Provides ground keeping, repairs and maintenance and cleaning services at the Council cemeteries and other designated public areas. Supports and relieves the Ranger to attend to compliance matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Ensures a high level of presentation of surroundings for mourners and visitors at Council cemeteries.
  2. Ensures graveside areas are prepared in co-operation with funeral directors in a timely and sensitive manner.
  3. Routinely clean Council’s public amenities to a high standard to provide hygienic facilities for the general public.
  4. Ensures grounds’ keeping at Council cemeteries complies with the Voluntary Conservation Agreements covering those locations.
  5. Ensure compliance with Council’s Work Health & Safety and Risk policies and procedures for the provision of worker and public safety.
  6. Assist and relieve Council’s Rangers to attend to compliance matters under the Companion Animals Act, POEI Act, Local Government Act, Impounding Act and Roads act and assist with dog control duties, pound maintenance and the welfare of impounded animals.
  7. Working within Council’s Park and Gardens team, including labouring, mowing, spraying and other duties as required.

Benefits:

  • Casual Hourly Rate $38.18 (includes 25% loading).
  • 12% super guarantee levy payable by Council.

Expression of Interest Independent Chair & Members Demerger Transition Disputes Resolution Panel

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) was created in May 2016 through the merger of Cootamundra and Gundagai Shire Councils.

The Minister for Local Government has approved the demerger of CGRC subject to Council undertaking all planning for, and bearing all costs of, the demerger. It is currently planned for the new Councils to begin on 1 July 2027.

The communities and all Councillors strongly support the demerger. Nevertheless, it is possible that a dispute may arise as Council develops its plans. Council has therefore resolved to establish a Demerger Transition Dispute Resolution Panel (DTDRP). Council has also resolved to accept the findings of the DTDRP.

Expressions of Interest are invited from suitably experienced individuals for the appointment to the position of Chair and members of the DTDRP.

Council seeks the services of suitably qualified persons to take on these unique roles to provide independent resolution of any matter referred to the panel.

Suitably qualified individuals are invited to submit an Expression of Interest by providing a letter outlining their qualifications and relevant experience together with a current résumé.
