Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) has been given approval from Transport for NSW (TfNSW) to extend the asphalting works on Yass Road Cootamundra. The rehabilitation works originally planned for the Yass Road/Barnes Street section has now been extended to encompass the area from the rail overpass bridge south toward the Yass Road rail crossing and the intersection with Hovell Street.

Work will commence on Thursday 5 May 2022 on the rail overpass bridge. On Monday 9 May 2022 works will continue along Yass Road. These works will take place during the night or day depending on the process required to be performed.

The nighttime works will alleviate disruption to local businesses between Barnes Street and Rodeo Drive and take advantage of lower traffic volumes.

Work will involve a 400mm excavation of the existing pavement and sub-base materials and replacing with stabilised sub-base, finishing with asphalt to provide a better wearing surface for light and heavy vehicles.

Traffic movements will be under full traffic control, with reduced speed limits and single lane closure only, with priority given to local residents, businesses and emergency services, ensuring safety of road users, residents and workers at all times.

This project is a Transport for NSW initiative funded by TfNSW and supported by CGRC.
