Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), and Killard Excavation will soon start on the next phase of the watermain replacement program in Cootamundra. This ongoing program compliments the major works undertaken in 2018/19.
CCRC has invested $7.5m over a period of three years from 2018 to 2020 in replacing and renewing the unlined and aging water mains at Cootamundra, under this program 24 kms of watermains were replaced which contributed to substantial improvement in water quality and discoloured waster complaints.
This phase of the program is being undertaken along Mackay Street between the intersections of Parker and Olney Streets.
CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said the continuation of the watermain replacement program will improve the water quality in Cootamundra.
“Council has worked with Killard Excavation on this project since 2018, and water quality has improved significantly. There have been substantial decreases in watermain breaks and customer complaints about discoloured water,” Cr McAlister said.
One site construction work will commence on 18 October 2021 and the duration of the work is anticipated to be 8 weeks in duration.
