Parker Street Beautification Project

The next phase of the beautification and rejuvination of Cootamundra’s main street – Parker Street, has moved to the Expression of Interest stage from qualified trades and skilled workers.

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) has called for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from qualified trades and labourers to supply quotes for the erection of street furniture, shade structures, landscaping and other works associated with the continuation of the beautification project that will has been undertaken in Cootamundra’s main street, Parker Street.

The project was funded from the Drought Communities Program, which was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Member for Riverina Michael McCormack last year.

The aim is to beautify and enhance the experience whilst visiting Cootamundra’s CBD, create jobs and boost local shopping and includes establishing street gardens, street furniture, lighting, retaining walls, shelters, new garden beds, associated landscaping and tree planting. The beautification project will feature four Canopee’s which were designed in France and will be manufactured in Australia by the famous Furphy Foundry.

CGRC manager for Waste, Parks and Recreation Services, Wayne Bennett said the project was moving into the next phase.

“I am looking forward to hearing from the local tradespeople and considering their quotations for this project. All the work expect for specialised aspects will be carried by local trades and skilled people, creating jobs, and providing work for our tradies,” Mr. Bennett said.
