Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council’s Draft 2025–2026 Operational Plan is now on public exhibition, giving the community an opportunity to have their say on a range of exciting projects and initiatives proposed for the coming year. The Plan outlines key infrastructure, and facility upgrades that will deliver real benefits across the Local Government Area, supporting growth, liveability, and community wellbeing.

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) mayor Councillor Abb McAlister said it was important that residents understand the future direction the Operational Plan is outlining.

“I understand these documents can seem arduous for many, as your representatives we would like to see residents and ratepayers make submissions. It does help us all to understand where community sentiment lays and keeps us in touch with community priorities.” Cr McAlister said.

A summary of the 25/26 Budget for Consolidated Accounts (General, Water and Sewer) is as follows:

  • Income is forecast to be $42.35m and is sourced from:

Rates and Charges $20.93m

User Fees $8.45m

Grants (State and Federal Government) $10.50m

Other Revenue $1.14m

Interest on Investments $1.33m

  • Expenses are forecast to be $46.90m, which are comprised of:

Employee Costs $18.13m,                

Materials and Contracts $14.79m 

Depreciation $13.01m,

Borrowing Costs $0.14m

Other Expenses $0.83m

Council is responsible for providing a wide range of services to the community as well as to build and maintain community assets and infrastructure such as roads, footpaths and water and sewer networks, as well as to enforce various laws.

The Operational Plan is based on Council’s organisational structure and includes budgets, operational objectives and key strategic projects for each of the service units. These activities and projects are linked back to the strategic directions and objectives addressed in Council’s Community Strategic Plan. The Operational Plan outlines the activities to be undertaken by Council during the year to provide those services. This plan is broken into three sections including: Budget, Revenue Policy and Fees and Charges.
