Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) is currently calling on residents and organisations to submit an Expression of Interest to join the Access and Inclusion Advisory Committee.
The committee aims to provide a forum for community and organisational representatives of people with a disability to collaborate with CGRC to address issues of accessibility within the community. The committee will provide input from the perspective of people with lived experience of a disability. The focus of the advisory committee is to monitor the implementation of the Disability Inclusion Action Plan. Their knowledge and lived experience and advice can help improve access and inclusion within our communities.
The draft CGRC Disability Inclusion Action Plan describes how Council can remove barriers, eliminate discrimination and act inclusively. It is designed to foster an environment where everyone, regardless of ability can thrive, be involved and feel included. The Plan will chart Council’s long-term plan to remove barriers for people with a disability.
The goals of the Plan will focus on:
- Developing positive community attitudes towards people with a disability
- Creating a more liveable community for people with a disability
- Supporting access to meaningful employment
- Improving access to mainstream services through better systems and processes
Expressions of Interest to join the committee are being called now and should be either posted to CGRC PO Box 420 Cootamundra NSW 2590 or emailed to mail@cgrc.nsw.gov.au with EOI Access & Inclusion Advisory Committee in the subject line. Submissions should contain contact details and a brief outline of experience. Submissions close 5pm 2 June 2025. More information can be obtained by calling Council on 1300 459 689.
