Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) will celebrate Local Government Week 2024 with open days to be held in Cootamundra and Gundagai. The open days will feature free giveaways and free sausage sizzle.
Information about Council services, meet a Councillor and the opportunity to speak to Council staff will be the feature of the open days to be held in Cootamundra on Tuesday 30 July 2024 in the Max Whitteron Gardens and Town Hall from 10am to 12 noon.
Gundagai’s open day will begin with Storytime in the library from 10am with a local councillor reading to preschoolers and infants, followed by a sausage sizzle, meet a Councillor and information stalls in the Gundagai Council Chambers precinct.
CGRC Interim General Manager Mr Steve McGrath said local councils are more than just roads, rates and rubbish, CGRC is staffed and run by local people, for local people.
“Local Government Week is an important event in Council’s calendar, it’s our opportunity to showcase the services offered by Council and speak directly to visitors. We will have information relating to companion animals, cemeteries, tourism, road safety, weed control, recycling, along with some free giveaways and the all-important delicious sausage sizzle,” Mr McGrath said.
“The event in 2023 had some big equipment on display which proved very popular with the youngsters and not so young, we hope to have some machines for people to inspect this year, depending on availability,” Mr McGrath added.
Local Government Week highlights that Councils promote local business and attract investment to the community. Council works with business and the wider community to promote healthy local economies and create local jobs. Council is part of your everyday and works to make your neighbourhood accessible, on foot, by bike, or by car. Councils deliver so much more than roads, rates, and rubbish: they reflect the complex communities they serve each and every day.
