Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), Mayor Cr Charlie Sheahan presented citizenship certificates to two residents at a ceremony held in the Alby Schultz Meeting Centre in Cootamundra on Monday 18 December 2023.
The ceremony was conducted in front of family and friends for Wallendbeen resident Charlotte Matheson and Cootamundra resident Karel Barber.
Mayor Sheahan welcomed all to country and read a message from the Hon Andrew Giles MP Minister for Immigration, Citizenship and Multicultural Affairs Parliament House Canberra ACT.
Guests gathered to witness both women take the pledge and affirmation during the ceremony.
Mrs Matheson and Mrs Barber were then presented with Citizenship certificates, before standing the t national anthem.
Both ladies were also presented with a native plant and CGRC gift pack.
All guests enjoyed a morning tea afterwards and were able to relate their stories on deciding to become Australian citizens to those in attendance.
