Residents across the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) Local Government Area (LGA) are being encouraged to nominate a person, for the prestigious 2023 Australia Day Awards. Nominations are now open and will be received by Council until the 18 November 2022.
Council in conjunction with the Australia Day Council, proposes to present its Annual Australia Day Awards on 26th January 2023, at two separate ceremonies: one to be held in Gundagai and one to be held in Cootamundra.
The annual ceremony is held every year on Australia Day and recognises the actions and abilities of individuals that have enhanced the social connectivity of the community.
Nominations are being invited for each of the following categories:
- Citizen of the Year 2. Young Citizen of the Year 3. Sportsperson of the Year / Sports Achievement Award.
All residents from the Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council area are eligible for nomination.
The Australia Day awards provide the opportunity for recognition for the many residents who enrich our council area, through community service and outstanding achievement. Achievements can be a single outstanding achievement in the last year or numerous achievements over many years.
Is there a person you believe delivers outstanding benefits to the community? A young person who stands out as an ambassador in our community or a person who has achieved great results in sport? These are the people who can be nominated for Citizen of the Year, Young Citizen of the Year, Sports Achievement awards.
Nominations are to be in writing (by letter, or on the form available from Council Offices and website) and received by Council no later than 5pm Friday 18November 2020.
The Citizen of the Year Award is for all persons of any age, whilst the Young Citizen Award is for persons aged up to 25 years as at 31 December 2022. The Sportsperson/Sports Achievement Award is open to all ages.
Persons who have been nominated previously but who have not won an award are eligible for re-nomination. The nomination form can be found by following on Council’s website or copies from the Administration Offices in Cootamundra and Gundagai.
