Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) is prominent in vaccination rates for COVID-19 in comparison to neighbouring Local Government Areas (LGAs).
Data received from the Australian Government Department of Health for the period up to 19 September 2021 shows that 87.6% of residents within the CGRC LGA aged 15 years plus have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, whilst 57.6% have received their second dose.
The Weddin Shire, that takes in the Grenfell area, is slightly ahead of CGRC with 89.9% of residents aged 15 years plus at first dose, and 59.7% at second dose.
CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said he was proud of the community and encouraged all to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
“Our communities have taken on board the vaccination message and have shown great resilience. They have been thoughtful and considerate to all by getting vaccinated and assisting to keep this virus out of our community so far. It’s been a credit to all, considering the location of our communities and with what has been happening around us,” Cr McAlister said.
“I urge those who haven’t yet been vaccinated to do so, we’d all love a Christmas, where family, friends and loved ones can gather,” Cr McAlister added.
