Cootamundra’s iconic Bradman’s Birthplace is looking for volunteers to greet visitors. Volunteers make an extraordinary contribution to our society and are the lifeblood of our community. Volunteering can be as rewarding for the volunteer as it is for the organisation they represent.

Bradman’s Birthplace Museum and the adjoining Memorabilia Cottage attracts a huge number of visitors to our region every year and is manned by volunteers who enjoy the interaction with visitors from all walks of life.

Located at 89 Adams Streets, Bradman’s Birthplace Museum was a small private hospital operated by Granny Scholz a mid-wife who delivered, “The greatest batsman the world has ever known” Sir Donald Bradman on 27th August 1908. The building was refurbished in 1991, and now his birthplace has been lovingly restored with the official opening on 23rd October 1992.

The birthplace cottage contains memorabilia of Sir Don, of cricket and of the Cootamundra district. It was the initiative of Cootamundra Shire Council to purchase and develop these sites for future generations.

The property next door to Bradman’s Birthplace, called Memorabilia Cottage, contains a nostalgic display of curios, bric-a-brac and Australian memorabilia, much of which dates back to the era when Sir Donald Bradman was born.

Volunteers are wanted on a fortnightly basis for Thursday and Friday afternoon shifts from 1pm to 5pm, and the Thursday shifts could commence from Thursday the 1st of April. The Friday shifts would commence from Friday the 5th of March.

Duties include greeting customers and visitors to Bradman’s Birthplace, cash handling and eftpos, selling souvenirs and stocking shelves, light cleaning duties and selling Cootamundra as a town and all things Don Bradman and Cricket! Training will be provided.

Bradman’s Birthplace would love to have you join their team; no experience required! For more information, please email info@visitcootamundra.com.au or call Council on 1300 459 689 and ask to speak with Miriam Crane.
