Cootamundra-Gundagai regional council (CGRC) wishes to advise motorists using the Nangus Road – West and Sheridan streets intersection in Gundagai of changed traffic conditions from 2nd February 2021.

The changes will see the removal of the Stop Signs to Give Way Signs on the Nangus Road approach to Sheridan Street.

Motorists are urged to proceed with caution at the intersection. The change to this intersection has been under direction from Transport for NSW (TfNSW).

The intersection has seen a lot of work in recent times, with the upgrade to Sheridan Street and the introduction of the 40klm high pedestrian area for the popular street.

CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said TfNSW had assessed the intersection and deemed the sight distance at the location did not warrant a stop sign.

“We understand this could be a contentious issue, and I urge motorists to take care when using this intersection,” Cr McAlister said.

CGRC will commence work on the intersection signage changes at the end of January 2021.
