Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) would like to bring to the attention of residents that street trees can only be pruned by Council staff or contractors. Qualified arborists/horticulturists will carry out the work to ensure the pruning is done correctly and will safeguard the tree and surrounds.
CGRC have a street tree management policy and is very clear about how Council manages street trees. All activity involving street trees is to be approved by Council and completed or supervised by qualified staff and or contactors.
Section six (6), of the policy states “Trees shall not be removed or pruned on Council owned or controlled land (including street trees) without permission under this policy and approval of the Manager of Waste, Parks and Recreation.
Street trees that have been pruned without approval of Council can attract a fine. Residents are reminded that they can contact Council and request the pruning of a street tree and qualified Council staff will attend to the request.
