Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), is has carried out “Deflection testing” of the road pavement in the vicinity of the Sheridan and West Street intersections. This testing is used to determine any faulty areas that may require rehabilitation prior to a new asphalt (hotmix) overlay.
The NSW Government has funded the project through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program a COVID stimulus package.
CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said the funds were very welcome and needed to be spent wisely.
“We have undertaken this deflection testing to ascertain the sections of road pavement that need the most urgent attention. Laying asphalt is expensive and we want to ensure that we get the best outcomes with the funds we have,” Cr McAlister said.
