APPLYING FOR COMMUNITY DONATIONS

Community organisations across the region will now have to apply to Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), for funding for events, donations, sponsorship and support of in kind materials and services.

Council has previously made donations to support organisations to deliver community facilities, services and events. In the future donations requests will be considered by Council on an annual basis.

To be considered for a donation organisations will be required to demonstrate that they have sought alternate funding sources and their application must address the criteria outlined in the application form.

CGRC has contacted organisations who approached Council in the last year, advising them of the new application process. Organisations will be required to request funding via an application form. .

CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said the new arrangement for donation/sponsorship requests will assist Council to formulate a dedicated donation budget, based on community needs and availability of Council funds.

“We need to be able to predict our expenditure in all aspects to formulate a working budget. By asking community organisations and the like to apply annually for funding for their events and needs, will ensure we don’t have budget overspends. This procedure will also ensure local not for profit, community organisation and individuals who have previously requested funds from Council have carefully considered what the funds will be spent on and how the funds will benefit the community as a whole,” Cr McAlister said.

Applications can be found on the CGRC website and will need to be presented to Council by close of business on the 29th May 2020 for consideration in the 2020/2021 budget.
