Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), will co-host an event with the Cootamundra Development Corporation, to celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD). The event will be held at Cootamundra’s Dusty Road Coffee Roasters in Wallendoon Street from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on Friday 6th March 2020.

International Women’s Day has become a time to reflect on progress, to call for change and to celebrate the courage and determination of the women who changed history, and those who will advance gender equality into the future. International Women’s Day has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911.

Dusty Roads Coffee Roasters, business owner Dianna Campbell will be the guest speaker. Dianna is a local firefighter and mother of two. She will be giving an account of her life and journey that has led to where she is today.

With limited tickets available interested people will need to RSVP to CGRC Tourism and Economic Development Officer Jeana Bell by 4 March. Jeana can be contacted at CGRC offices in Cootamundra or by calling 1300 459 689.

“We would like our communities strong women to come together to empower each other and celebrate with an evening of wine, cheese and equality,” Jeana said.

 International Women’s Day identifies with the colour purple, participants are encourages to add a touch of this colour to their outfits on the night.

 A glass of champagne will be available on arrival (free), along with snacks and platters. Coffee and tea can be ordered from the Barista’s at your leisure and personal cost.

 Due to the restricted numbers at the venue, an invitation has been extended to women in the community who may miss out on the earlier event to convene at the Cootamundra Ex-services Club afterwards for a shared drink and an opportunity to discuss all things women!
