Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Councils, Mayor Abb McAlister has expressed his disappointment at the recent theft of over 35 trees from the Sherwood Forest area.

“Our teams have been working on the Sherwood Forest area as part of the Masterplan for the area over recent months and the area is looking beautiful. I’m disheartened and saddened that some in our community could show such a lack of respect not only for the beautification of this space but also for ratepayer funds,” Cr McAlister said.

“The native trees, shrubs and grasses had been planted and literally pulled from the ground, whilst the cost of replacement of this tube stock is minimal, it’s the cost of replacing, replanting and the doubling up of resources already used,” Cr McAlister added.

CGRC reminds residents that theft or damage to Council and/or public property will be reported to police for further action. Council does have CCTV cameras strategically placed in both Cootamundra and Gundagai.
