An abandoned dog who arrived at the Gundagai Pound uncertain of what the future might hold is now on the road to a brighter life, thanks to the efforts of Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) staff and a dedicated rescue organisation.
Loki, a friendly dog taken to the Gundagai Pound, has recently travelled to Queensland where he is now in the care of SEQ K9 Rescue, which will work to find him a loving forever home.
Before beginning the next chapter of his life, Loki has enjoyed some well-deserved care and attention, including a health check, plenty of rest and a full grooming session conducted by SEQK9 Rescue that has him looking, in the words of Council staff, “a million bucks.”
The positive outcome is one that means a great deal to Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council’s Regulatory Services team, who spend considerable time caring for animals that find themselves in the pound through no fault of their own.
Council’s Regulatory Officers say there is no better reward than seeing a surrendered or abandoned animal given a second chance.
“Whenever an animal comes into our care, we do everything we can to make sure they are safe, comfortable and assessed for adoption opportunities,” a Council spokesperson said.
“Our officers spend time with these animals every day and naturally form a bond with them. They get to know their personalities, their quirks and watch them grow in confidence.”
“When a rescue organisation steps in and an animal like Loki gets the opportunity to find a loving home, it makes all the hard work worthwhile.”
Council officers and Rescue organisations take great pride in preparing animals for rescue and adoption, ensuring they meet the necessary health and behavioural requirements to begin the next stage of their journey.
“Loki is a wonderful example of what can happen when councils, rescue groups and animal lovers work together,” the spokesperson said.
“We are incredibly grateful to SEQ K9 Rescue for giving Loki this opportunity and helping him find the family he deserves.”
While Loki’s destination may be Queensland, Council staff will be eagerly following his progress and look forward to hearing news when he finally finds his forever home.
For the Regulatory Services team, stories like Loki’s are a reminder that every animal deserves a second chance and that sometimes a happy ending is just the beginning of a brand-new adventure.
