Transport for NSW Traffic Alert
10 MARCH 2023
Changed traffic conditions at Wallendbeen
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on the Olympic Highway and Burley Griffin Way at Wallendbeen while work on two overbridges is carried out.
The Olympic Highway bridge over the main Southern rail line, which was damaged when a heavy vehicle hit the structure last September, will re-open to two lanes of traffic on Tuesday 14 March, weather permitting.
Until then, the single lane reduction and speed limit of 40 km/h remain in place due to structural damage caused when the heavy vehicle hit.
Repair work has included replacing part of the road surface, guard rail, protective wall and new line-marking.
Once two-way traffic is reinstated and the speed limit restriction lifted, the bridge’s protective barrier will be removed, and full access restored.
Motorists are advised work on the nearby Burley Griffin Way overbridge permanent replacement will continue between 7am and 6pm Monday to Friday and between 8am and 1pm on Saturdays.
Further work may be carried out over 24-hour periods during ARTC shutdown possessions when no trains are running. The community will be notified before this work is carried out.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of traffic control and road signage.
Transport for NSW thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out
