The festive season is upon up with Christmas cheer and end of work festivities, it’s a time when many will be enjoying the odd drink. Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC), together Transport for NSW and the NSW Police are promoting Plan B – Win A Swag competition with an aim to encourage party goers to have a Plan B in place before going out for the night.
The initiative is underway within the Local Government Area (LGA). The What’s Your Plan B: Win a Swag Promotion is a road safety campaign that targets drink driving awareness and encourages people to plan ahead and make safer choices when drinking alcohol.
Patrons of hotels and bottle shops can enter the draw to win a double swag by simply nominating alternative options to drink driving.
There is a limit of one entry per patron per day and entries must not include drink driving or illegal use of vehicles. with the main message being, if you are drinking, don’t drive. Plan your night out, plan how you are going to get home after a night out. If you drink and drive, you will face the consequences. The initiative aims at reducing alcohol related crashes on our roads.
The What’s Your Plan Be promotion has proved very popular with venues across the local government area (LGA), coming on board to participate.
CGRC mayor Councillor Charlie Sheahan, said he was pleased that so many venues within our region have chosen to take part in the promotion.
“This is a demonstration by these venues, to promote responsible service of alcohol and endorse the road safety drinking and driving message. We want everyone to have a great time, this festive season, and we want everyone to get home safely,” Cr Sheahan said.
The participating venues in Cootamundra are, the IGA Bottle Shop, The Olympic Hotel Bottle Shop, The Central Hotel, Cootamundra Ex-Servicemen’s & Citizens Memorial Club, Woolworths Bottle Shop and the Wallendbeen Hotel.
In Gundagai, Foodworks Bottle Shop, The Criterion Bottle Shop, Lotts Family Hotel, the Gundagai District Services Club and the Tumblong Tavern.
