Steph to Open Jubilee Park Playground
Member for Cootamundra, Steph Cooke will be in Cootamundra on Thursday 12 March to officially open the new playground equipment in Cootamundra’s Jubilee Park.
Ms Cooke will also unveil the new busts along the Captains Walk in the park, the new busts, depict Australian Cricket captains Shane Watson, Tim Paine and Steve Smith.
The new playground equipment in the park was made possible with a NSW State Government Stronger Communities Fund Round 1 grant. The $500,000 project saw structures constructed that include shade shelters, picnic tables, barbeques and playground equipment.
Adjacent to the playground equipment a nature play area has been installed consisting of rolling hills with newly planted trees. Dexterity panels are incorporated in the lower level of the large play tower structure. A mammoth swing, smaller toddler combination unit, rubber domes and a climbing wall come together with a sky rider double cable ride, softfall matting, sand and lawn areas to make up an impressive space.
The playground equipment was completed in time for the holiday season, and has seen hundreds of children and adults enjoying the area. Existing trees were retained where possible and the native trees in the landscape design were selected for ease of maintenance and tolerance to the site conditions.
Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council mayor Cr Abb McAlister said the park has been enhanced and is pleased so many are enjoying the new facilities.
“The park is truly a place for all, with the Captains Walk and the new playground, with barbeques, there’s something for everyone in Jubilee Park. Residents and visitors of all ages can spend some time here and enjoy the outdoor space,” Cr McAlister said.
I’m looking forward to the official opening and invite all members of the community to come along,” he added.
Residents are invited to attend both events on Thursday 12 March from 3.30pm
