Cootamundra’s Wattle Time Festival has been hailed as a great success. The popular festival resumed after a hiatus and saw huge crowds line Cootamundra’s main street for the street parade, followed by markets and entertainment in Albert Park.
Parker Street came alive with antique and vintage vehicles leading the ever-popular parade, that included floats from local schools, organisations, and emergency vehicles all with lights flashing and air horns blasting. Children were excited to see friends and relatives lining the street to wave and take photos.
The crowd dispersed after the parade to enjoy over 50 market stalls selling locally produced goods, a range of food stalls and entertainment that included popular local band the Mighty Yak, cultural dancing, and children’s entertainment and rides.
The festival fun is set to continue for Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) residents on Friday 20 September, with the Festival of Gundagai kicking off from 4pm. Sheridan Street will be closed from 3pm. The festival will feature live music, face painting, The Country Makers Markets, light displays and amusement rides.
Sheridan Street and Carberry Park will be the place to be for an afternoon and evening of fun, friendship, and celebration of all things local.
