Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council’s (CGRC) mayor Cr Charlie Sheahan is urging residents from across the local government area (LGA), to visit the Red Cross Pop Up Store.

“This facility has been created by Red Cross Cootamundra, to offer assistance and goods to people in need. I urge people who need assistance to call into the store at 180 Parker Street and talk to the people there, assistance can come in many forms, whether it’s just chat or the need for clothes, cleaning items and food it’s there for our community. All of our communities, you don’t have to be in Cootamundra, we want people who live in Gundagai and in our outer lying villages to take advantage of the service and call in to the Red Cross Pop-Up Store,” Cr Sheahan said.

The Pop-Up store has emergency food hampers as well as new clothes from the Thread Together organisation and local store Baileyana.  The Pop-Up Shop will be open from 10am to 5pm Weekdays and 10am to 2pm on weekends.

Spokesperson for Red Cross Cootamundra Helen Eccleston said that the store could be in place until Christmas and implores all residents who need assistance, to call in.

“The flood situation created a catalyst for this facility, it’s being well stocked by agencies who can assist with clothing, food, and other resources. We are here to help, we have the means to ensure that people can get clothing, cleaning items and food if they need, or even if it’s just a friendly face and ear to listen to them, whether you have been directly impacted by the flooding or are just doing it tough at the moment, we are here to help,” Ms Eccleston said.

The Pop-Up store is located at 180 Parker Street, next to Baileyana in Cootamundra and is open from 10am.
