Southside Toot a reality
Watching a game of rugby league at Gundagai’s Anzac Park next season will be a more pleasurable experience when the long awaited “Southside Supporters” toilet facilities are in operation.
Work has commenced on the $86,000 project, the underground services and concrete slab are in position. The 7.5m x 4m toilet facility will comprise five toilets, two being ambulant and one disabled.
Access to the facilities will be available to golfers from the Bidgee Banks Golf Course, being midway on the course, it will be a welcome resource for locals and visitors to the popular course.
Funded by the Stronger Country Communities Fund Round Two, an initiative of the NSW State Government and administered by Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council, the project will benefit many local organisations who use Anzac Park. Local schools and rugby league, soccer, and junior rugby league carnivals utilise the area.
CGRC mayor Cr Abb McAlister said the facilities will be a welcome feature to the popular area of Anzac Park.
“Many of the spectators who use this area are elderly and like to sit in their cars to watch the football, the old port-a-loo just wasn’t good enough. These facilities will ensure that the crowds we get to our sporting events will have more than adequate facilities,” Cr McAlister said.
Work on the facility should be finalised by the end of September.
