Applications are invited from interested persons for the full-time position of GIS & Asset Officer based in Cootamundra. This position develops and maintains geographic information systems (GIS) and asset management systems to record all Council assets including details such as location, cost, and condition, and ensure such systems are maintained and accessible.
The role also involves planning and carrying out timely asset inspections and surveys for roads, footpaths, culverts, bridges, stormwater drainage, water and sewerage facilities and other capital or maintenance works projects, including public recreational facilities, to ensure the location and condition of the asset is adequately determined and monitored.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, maintain and upgrade geographic information systems (GIS) using QGIS or an equivalent software, using visual imagery (drone survey or lidar), survey, GPS data and asset registers to identify existing assets.
- Capture and maintain currency of Council’s Geographic Information System (GIS) information and assets database in accordance with Council’s plans, policies and strategies.
- Administer all aspects of council’s Reflect and Recover, Property and other relevant software, and ensure full operation and utilisation of functionality including updates and license agreements.
- Develop, implement and record details of an annual program for the inspection of Council’s assets.
- Identify the condition of each asset in the asset register assist in the development of asset maintenance programs based on condition inspections of Councils assets and monitor infrastructure and buildings performanc
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure asset management service deliverables and operational needs are met, including accurate and timely capture and evaluation of condition, performance, valuation, and other key asset data.

- Salary range of $1,527.09 to $1,786.33 gross per week.

Are you close to completing a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree? Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council is offering an opportunity for someone pursuing a career in Local Government to develop specialist technical skills within a supportive team environment, while continuing their tertiary studies.
The cadetship is a structured training and development program for students who have satisfactorily completed at least four semesters of their Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree and are currently completing their third or fourth year of study. To be eligible for this role, students need to have completed at least 96 credit points in a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil).
Key responsibilities include:
- Assist engineering design staff with the production of engineering designs as required.
- Assist engineering/technical works staff with practical completion of construction, maintenance and other related duties.
- Assist asset management staff with the preparation, implementation and review of asset management plans and actions as required.
- Assist Council with the collection of engineering related field data.
- Gain knowledge of current legislation, standards, policies and guidelines relevant to engineering/technical responsibilities and ensure that activities undertaken are compliant (including TfNSW, Australian Standards, Austroads guidelines, Aus-Spec specifications).
- Communicate problems, issues, risks, incidents and hazards in a timely manner.
- Perform allocated duties in a timely, cost effective and productive manner including the acquisition of ‘hands on, practical technical skills’ where appropriate.
- Other duties that might reasonably arise that are consistent with the incumbent’s level of competency and the principles of multi-skilling.
- Routine clerical and administrative tasks associated with work performed in the engineering services area.
- Satisfactory progression in a university level civil engineering degree course, leading to a Bachelor Of Engineering degree qualification.

We are seeking a full-time Trainee Water & Sewer Attendant to join the team! This is an entry level opportunity to gain a wealth of knowledge and hands-on experience whilst studying to gain qualifications. This is a term role, for a period of two years, whilst you work towards gaining a Certificate III Water Industry Operations. At the end of the term of employment, on successful completion of your Certificate, you will become a qualified and competent Water and Sewer Operator.
This role, based in Gundagai, assists with water & sewer work whilst undertaking the on-the-job training component of a traineeship and learning water and sewer skills in the Local Government environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide support for works undertaken by the Water & Sewer team.
- Attend off-the-job structured training as required by the Training Agreement for the Traineeship, and other short courses as identified.
- Participate in a team environment by performing tasks withing the Water and Sewer section.
- Deliver quality customer service to both external and internal customers.
- Carry out any other duties that are withing the limits of the employees’ skill, competence, and training.
- Abide by legislation and policy regarding Work Health & Safety, Environmental, Equal Employment Opportunity, Privacy and the Local Government Act and regulations and authorizing bodies.

Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) was created in May 2016 through the merger of Cootamundra and Gundagai Shire Councils.
The Minister for Local Government has approved the demerger of CGRC subject to Council undertaking all planning for, and bearing all costs of, the demerger. It is currently planned for the new Councils to begin on 1 July 2027.
The communities and all Councillors strongly support the demerger. Nevertheless, it is possible that a dispute may arise as Council develops its plans. Council has therefore resolved to establish a Demerger Transition Dispute Resolution Panel (DTDRP). Council has also resolved to accept the findings of the DTDRP.
Expressions of Interest are invited from suitably experienced individuals for the appointment to the position of Chair and members of the DTDRP.
Council seeks the services of suitably qualified persons to take on these unique roles to provide independent resolution of any matter referred to the panel.
