Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council (CGRC) is calling for Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified and independent professionals to join the Demerger Transition Disputes Resolution Panel (DTDRP), a key governance body supporting the orderly transition to two new councils.
The DTDRP will comprise an independent Chair and two members. The Panel will make binding decisions in the event Councillors are unable to reach agreement on a demerger-related matter, with Council formally committing to accept the Panel’s determinations.
CGRC, Mayor Abb McAlister said the establishment of the Panel is an important step in ensuring transparency, accountability and community confidence throughout the demerger process.
“The Demerger Transition Disputes Resolution Panel provides an independent, fair and structured mechanism to resolve matters if agreement cannot be reached,” Councillor McAlister said.
“This is about maintaining momentum, protecting good governance and ensuring decisions are made in the best interests of both emerging councils and their communities.”
Why apply?
Serving on the DTDRP offers a unique opportunity to:
- Contribute to a significant local government transition process
- Help safeguard transparent and accountable decision-making
- Provide independent expertise during a critical governance period
- Support the establishment of strong foundations for the new Cootamundra and Gundagai councils
Council is seeking individuals with demonstrated local government experience, strong governance knowledge and the ability to provide impartial, balanced and well-reasoned determinations. Applicants must be fully independent of Council.
The role offers the opportunity to play a pivotal part in shaping the future governance arrangements of the two new councils and supporting a smooth, orderly and fair transition.
Expressions of Interest are now open.
